Sympathy
The death took place last week of Freddie Smith, Crehennan. Freddie, who was 74 years old, died after a lengthy illness at Carndonagh Community Hospital. He was a shirtcutter by trade and when he gave that up he was called on by anyone who wanted electrical work, plumbing, building or carpentry work undertaken. He was one of the original promoters of the Quigley’s Point Water Scheme and was a great community activist. He was very well known and highly respected and was always there to help no matter what. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by everyone who knew him. Culmore Trinity Church was crowded for his funeral service which was conducted by the Rev Gloria Penwell. The reader was William Bredin and the beautiful music was provided by Mrs Marion Kee. Deepest sympathy is offered to Freddie’s wife, Lily, the family circle and many friends. May he rest in peace.
