St Vincent De Paul

The St Vincent De Paul Society, St Baithin’s Conference, St Johnston recently held a collection in support of the annual Uganda Appeal. The collection was taken up on the way into St Baithin’s Church and was hugely successful.  The amount raised was 424 Euro and we would like to say a huge thank you to the community. The St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre has kindly donated the proceeds of 104 euro which was raised on Pancake Tuesday in the centre. Rosemary Colhoun made the sumptuous pancakes which were sold on the day and it was subsequently suggested that the money should be given to the St Vincent De Paul Society. Again thanks to the centre and all involved.

Supper Dance

The Supper Dance which used to be held on the last Thursday evening of the month was switched to Saturday, March 29.  It was a very enjoyable and successful event and Leslie Matthews and locals provided the songs and everybody enjoyed the supper.  People from other parts came as well.

Forever Crafts

Forever Crafts, the St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre Craft Group continues to meet every Tuesday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. Recently, the group invited Mrs Ethel Patterson to show us all her beautiful stitchery work and the group found it very interesting and inspirational. Mrs Anna Robinson helped by Geltye Duncan have given the group a workshop on quilling. Quilling is a paper craft that goes back to the days when quills were used. Other classes by members are coming up soon.  The Craft group plans to go this month to the Stitch and Creative Craft Show in the King’s Hall, Belfast. The group is always open to new members and if you enjoy crafts and craic please join them any Tuesday. Why not drop in and see what they are about? Everybody is welcome.
