Tenders Invited

Tenders are invited from interested parties regarding proposed works to be completed at St Mary’s NS Malin Head during July/August 2008. Details available from school during school hours. Closing date for receipt of quotations is Friday, May 2.

 

Confirmation

Confirmation was conferred on sixth class pupils from the Malin parish on Sunday last April 13 in St Patrick’s Church, Aughaclay by Bishop Francis Lagan. Children from St. Mary’s NS, Malin Head who received the Sacrament were: Aoife Doherty, Westown; Bridgeen Doherty, Ballygorman; Niamh Stevens, Middletown; Stephanie Glackin, Ballygorman; Linda Coffey, Ballygorman; Aine Doherty, Muckla; and Eamon Hegarty, Westown.  Children from Urblereagh NS were Edel Mc Laughlin, Glengad Mountain; Denise Doherty, Lowerbraghey; James Mullin, Bree; and Niomi McLaughlin, Letterorr.

 

Hospice Support Group

The Foyle and Donegal Hospices, Buncrana Support Group, present a social evening of Entertainment and Floral Art Exhibits in the Lake of Shadows Hotel, Buncrana on Thursday, April 24 at 8pm.  Admission is 5 euro including a savoury supper.  Approximately one hundred displays and various prizes (all donated) will be raffled on the night.  Entertainment will be provided by Pauline Saunders, Kathy McCarthy, Stewart Buchanan, James Boyle and Irish Dancing by Aidan and Rachael McGinley, who are all giving their time free of charge. MC on the night will be Nicholas Crossan.  Everyone is very welcome. Hydrographic Survey

The Marine Institute will be conducting a hydrographic survey operation off the north coast of Donegal until May 9.

 

Alzheimer Tea Day

This year Alzheimer Tea Day will be held on Thursday, May 1.  This fundraising provides a lifeline for people with dementia and their families.  Register to host an Alzheimer Tea Day in your area or workplace by calling www.teaday.ie to make a difference.

 

Accommodation Wanted

Accomodation is required for the Irish Seniors Golf  Open which will be held in Ballyliffin Golf Club in mid-June this year.  Anyone with a suitable house to let between Monday, June 16 and Sunday, June 22 should forward details to Ballyliffin Golf Club on 93 76119.

 

Sponsored Walk

A Sponsored Walk in aid of the Alan Doherty Fund will be held on Sunday, May 18 at 3pm leaving St. Mary’s Hall, Clonmany via Binion and Tullagh and the Rusty Nail and back to the hall for refreshments.  A shorter route is also available.  Music and raffle in James Tams at 10.30pm. All sponsor cards will be entered into a draw. Sponsorship cards are available from Eddie on 9376781 and Breedge on 9376391

 

Depression Support Group

For those who experience depression a Support Group meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7.30pm in the Nursing Unit, Maginn Avenue, Buncrana.  If needing a listening ear call the Aware helpline on 1890 303 302 or visit www.aware.ie

 

Carers’ Information

For information for those caring for an older person Drop in Clinics will be held on the last Monday of each month in Carndonagh Community Hospital. For further information contact 087 2770103.

Sports Field Draw

Malin Head Community Sports Committee run a Draw for a weekly prize of 500 euro.  The draw on Saturday, April 12 was held in Farren’s Bar and the lucky winner was Kathleen Logan, Urblereagh, Malin Head, with ticket number 165. Next week’s draw will be held in the Crossroads Inn.

 

Senior Ladies GAA Training

Training for Senior Ladies is held on every Saturday at 5pm in the GAA Centre, Malin. All ladies welcome.

 

Whist

The weekly Whist has a new venue.  The Whist, which is held every Monday night at 8pm, will be held in St Mary’s National School, Malin Head while renovations get underway in Malin Head Community Hall. GAA Lotto

The Malin GAA Lotto Jackpot was not won on Sunday, April 13.  The bonus prize was won by Terence Colhoun, Killian, Malin. The jackpot for next week is 1,200 euro.

 

GAA Opening

The Grand Opening of the GAA Centre in Malin has been set for Sunday, May 4, the May Bank Holiday weekend.  An Inishowen Select side will play the Donegal senior team in honour of the occasion.

Function for voluntary workers takes place on Friday, April 25 in the GAA centre, Malin.  Everyone who helped with development is welcome to attend.

 

Flower Festival

A Place Apart:  International Flower Festival will be hosted at the Loreto House, Linsfort, Buncrana from Friday, May 2 to Monday, May 5, Friday – Sunday 10am – 7pm.  Monday 10am – 5pm. Volunteers Needed

Inishowen Women’s Outreach would appreciate a couple of hours of your spare time and are seeking volunteers for some of the services it provides: Helpline - Listening Ear - Advocacy - Court Accompaniment - Support Group - Counselling for Women – Counselling for Children – Awareness Raising.  Closing date for next training is March 20.
