Ram raid
A daring ram raid took place at Texaco Filling Station, Muff in the early hours of Wednesday morning causing considerable damage to the shop front. The lorry and getaway car involved in this raid were stolen in the north. The estimated cost of the damage is 10,000 euro, although the gang only got away with a quantity of cigarettes valued at 500 euro, even dropping some of these when making their getaway. The culprits were caught on CCTV and an award of 1,000 euro will be given to anyone who has information regarding this robbery that would lead to the arrest of these criminals. The gardaí would also like to hear from anyone who could help them with their inquiries.

Céilí Mór
A Céilí Mór organised by the Quigley’s Point Ceili Club will be held in St Mary’s Community Hall next Friday, April 25. Dancing from 10pm-1am. Admission including supper 5 euro. Music by The Cottage Ceili Band.
Theft in church
Two candelabra in the Sacred Heart Church, Muff have been targeted several times recently and a quantity of cash taken even though the strongest locks were in place. Two females with a child in a pram sawed the lock open and on another occasion another female did likewise. Both sets of thieved were caught on CCTV. Fr Farren and the gardaí are anxious that these criminals are caught and the appropriate action taken. Anyone passing the church seeing anything suspicious, please contact either Fr Farren or the Gardai as this type of behaviour cannot be tolerated.
Yoga classes
Yoga classes will continue for the next seven weeks in St.Mary’s Community Hall on Tuesday from 7-8.15pn. New members very welcome.
Musical Evening
There will be a musical evening in Greenbank Hall this Friday, April 25 at 8pm. Admission 7 euro. All welcome.
Wedding
The recent wedding took place in St Aidan’s Church, Butlersbridge, Co Cavan of Martin McLaughlin. son of Seamus and Ann McLaughlin, Ardmore, Muff and Brenda Leahy. daughter of Brendan and Patsy Leahy, Dublin. The bridesmaids were Tara Byrns, Megan Clery and Sinead Leahy. The best man was Seamus McLaughlin, and the groomsmen were Declan McGill and Sean Leahy. The celebrant at the Mass was Father Tom Manion, and the soloist was Mairead Whelan. The reception was held in the Slieve Russell Hotel, Co Cavan and the happy couple spent their honeymoon in Cyprus.
Mission
A Mission will be held in the parish this year from Sunday, May 25 until Saturday, May 31. Further details at a later date.
Confirmation
Thirty-two children from Scoil Naomh Brid, Muff and 31 from Scoil Naomh Fionan, Whitecastle were confirmed by Bishop Hegarty on Tuesday last in the Sacred Heart Church, Muff. Also in attendances; Fr Paul Farren, Fr John Farren, Fr Edward Mailey and Fr Colm Morris. The beautiful music in the Church was provided by the Youth Choir under the direction of Margaret & Roisin Brogan. Afterwards refreshments were served in St Mary’s Community Hall by the ladies’ committee, and the children had their photograph taken with the bishop. Congratulations to all the boys and girls who were confirmed.
Tuesday Club
Muff Tuesday Club will recommence in St Mary’s Community Hall from 2-4pm with a Bowling Session. Forthcoming activities include Swimming, Walking and Golf. Members of the group attended a Social Morning in the Gateway Hotel, Buncrana recently and afterwards had refreshments of soup and sandwiches. The theme for the day was romantic and other reminiscence of dances in years gone by. One lady recalled that dances held in Ture, had their form of central heating, as the dance floor was directly over the cow shed, causing the heat to rise at no cost. Everyone had a really enjoyable time, this type of activity is hoped to be repeated in the near future.
Namoh Padraig GAA
The numbers drawn in last weeks lotto were 2, 1, 5, 7, 6, 3 and 4. There was no jackpot winner, however, 6 runner up prizes went to Mary Toye, Cross, Quigley’s Point, Roy Robb, C/O Squealin pig, Shaun Gallagher, Muff, Colette Barratt, Summerhill, Muff, Paul Harkin, 59 White castle & Sinead Lynch. This weeks jackpot will be 700 euro. Last week was a mixed one on the pitch. The Senior Boys lost to Urris in the Semi Final of the Inishowen Senior Competition, however bounced back to beat Convoy in the league at the weekend. Unfortunately the reserves lost out to Convoy on the same night. At under age level the U12’S comfortably defeated Urris last weekend both the senior and reserves were away to Red Hughes.
