The Under 14 Futsol team did us all proud last wek when they won their section of the competition in Maginn Park. Congragulations to ll involved. Parents should come along and cheer on the youth teams, as the standard of play is very high indeed. Next Sunday sees us play Clonmany in the final of the Credit Union Cup. Again please ensure you buy your tickert from the club rather than pay at the gate as we have a lot of tickets to sell. Football news

It’s that time of year again when sports day is just around the corner. As usual, it will be on the Whit weekend which this year is Sunday, June 1. It is now only five and a half weeks away so the committee will be busy over the next few weeks making their preparations. Keep your diary free that weekend. Anyone who wants to help out on the day should make themselves available as soon as possible to ensure the day itself runs off smoothly. Underage football is now up and running with activity at the pitch most nights of the week. Parents should come along and cheer on the youth teams, as the standard of play is very high indeed. The adult teams are also very busy over the next few weeks with games coming thick and fast. There is still a lot to play for on different fronts with the reserves qualified for the Top competition as well so hopefully a big push over those matches will see us end the season on a high.

Thanks

Albert Doherty would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that supported the recent fundraising concert in aid of David Nixon’s work in Zambia. David, Rhoda and their family have been living and working in Zambia for the past nine years. Football

Next Sunday evening will see Redcastle United. face Moville Celtic in the final of the League Cup at Greencastle. If you are going to the match please make sure you buy your ticket from the club rather than paying at the gate, as the club have a lot of tickets to sell for this match. This Final is a re-run of the Fr. O’Gara cup final from 15 years ago when Redcastle emerged victorious by one goal to nil. It will be nice to see as many players from that double winning team of 1993 as possible at the game that evening. No doubt everyone will still have fond memories of that match to share and chat about.  Two of the main talking points will most likely be the fantastic 35th minute goal that all 3 officials missed go through the hole in the net, as well as the Ronaldo like upending of our striker in the box that led to the winning penalty.

The underage season is now up and running, probably a month too early for most pitches in the Peninsula. Parents please make sure you know when training sessions and matches begin and end in order to ensure all players are dropped off and picked up on time. If any player still has not registered then please do so before the season begins. There are ticket sheets available for any underage player who wants to sell them in order help pay for the purchase of club tops. Ask at the club, and ensure you return the monies before you order your top.

The St Johnston and Carrigans Family Resource Centre has kindly donated the proceeds of 104 euro which was raised on Pancake Tuesday in the centre. Football

The underage season is now upon us again, and the fact that it will overlap the adult season is very regrettable and will no doubt cause problems both for ourselves, for pitches and for referees. Parents need to ensure they have paid their membership for players as it is now overdue. Players, please ensure you have details of your coaches, training times, and times of matches and communicate these to your parents. Parents and guardians please ensure players are dropped off and picked up at appropriate times also. The nights for competitive matches are Under 14 on a Monday, Unde-16 on a Wednesday and under-12 on a Friday night. The Under 12s will revert to a Sunday morning after a month or so when the Under-18 season begins. Anyone who will be going to the League Cup Final between Redcastle and Moville in Greencastle on Sunday, April 20 please make sure you buy a ticket from the club for this match rather than paying at the gate. The club have a huge amount of tickets for this match and they have to pay for them whether they sell them or not, so please make sure you buy your tickets from a Redcastle Utd club member.

Sports Day
Sports Day is finally upon us, and it is hoped this Sunday will be the best ever. There are all the usual attractions and lots more besides for all the family. Come along and show your support and have a good time while you are doing it. All help would be gratefully appreciated on the day, and in the the preperation of the field beforehand. This is a good day to go out and mingle with others from the local community and beyond, and watch the children enjoy themselves. In a small rural community like ours there aren’t that many events to bring locals together, so make the most of it when it come along.
